Two questions im hoping you guys can help me with.

1) Can i use an obd1 gsr ecu with my obd2a gsr motor?
a guy i know has a chipped ecu he's willing to sell.
is the ecu different from what i already have?
I know i'd need to get a conversion harness.

2) do i need to use the secondary o2 sensor that's
in my cat? would my ecu throw a code?
I would like to remove the cat but then it'll just
be hanging there.

Yes you can run OBD 1 on a 2 motor. Honestly you shouldn't run a chipped ECU that wasn't burn for your exact setup. Every car is different and every setup is to, So "General chipping" isn't the way to go. you can switch to Obd1 and then go with somethign tunable like Uberdata or hondata.

If you running Obd2a or b you need that second o2 plugged into the ECU. you can take it out of the cat and zip tie it under the car and it won't throw a code. But if you unplug it it will get a CEL. Now if you swithc to OBD1 then i believe this eliminates your second o2 completly.

Yeah i hear ya on the chipping issue, maybe i'll just look
for a stock ecu for now.

so i could just zip the o2 sensor under the car and it'll be
just fine? that's good cause i'm getting my exhaust done this
weekend and i dont have enought o replace the cat so i'm running
without it then.

just leave the 2nd o2 in the cat.. no use taking it out, there's no reason to. Get yourself a conversion harness http://www.civicland.com/forums/inde...showtopic=5898 and a virgin ecu and have it tuned correctly.

the 2nd o2 wont be used but i'd leave it just the same, you never know when you need it back there for somereason then you gotta climb under reinstall it it'll last longer in the cat that zipped up to the frame exposed to the weather.

Eric, he's removing the his cat so he really can't leave it in there. But i would 100% sugest you keep the O2 in a clean dry spot and don't sell it, you never know when your going ot need one. I have a box full of honda sensors just in case. i have at least 2 of every sensor you can think of.

I want to remove the cat completley because im gonna get a
two and a quarter exhaust custom made from the header back
so the cat would only be like a 1 and a half dia pipe right?
