ok i finally got my exhaust finished on my civic 4dr value package with the d16y7. ive got the header, high flow cat, and 2.25" piping all the way back to an Apex N1 muffler. i installed the second o2 sensor after i got the exhaust run and it was runnin like a bat outta hell until it threw a cel. ok in order for my o2 sensor to be able to reach the cat i had to extend the wires. i did the wires one at a time. the cel codes thrown were all saying the second o2 sensor was fucked up. the codes said something about the heater wire and a couple of other things, but it all had to do with the wiring of the second o2 sensor. for the longest time the second o2 sensor wasnt where it was supposed to be, it was just hangin out under the hood still hooked up to keep from throwing a cel. now that all the wiring has been extended, and all the piping run. its all done the way its supposed to be it has problems. its pourin the gas in like crazy. you shouldnt be smellin a cloud of gas when you stop when running pump gas. could the o2 sensor be fouled out cuz it got wet or something while it was just hangin out under the hood? it keeps throwing the codes 5 minutes after i clear them with my scanner. i have reset the ecu several times as well. please help, cuz that damn orange light is annoying.

Get a new sensor...I drove with now second o2 sensor for a very long time and it never made a difference in my gas mileage. If it was just hangin out down there under the car...anything could have happened to it, you would be better of just geting a new secondar o2 sensor.

Before you go an buy an new senor check all your wiring, Maybe it got burn though or pulled on. Did you try resting the ECU? If so did the code come right on after start up?

well this is the d16y7 value package. the exhaust manifold had the built in cat. both o2 sensors were right by the radiator. the primary was no problem putting on the header, it went right on the #4 cylinder header runner. the scond one i had to extend the wiring for it, because the second o2 sensor originally was close to the bottom of the radiator. it doesnt throw the code right after startup after it has been cleared or reset, the cel comes on after about 10-15 minutes of the engine running either at idle or normal driving. i have checked the wiring, and all is good. when i just had it hanging there it wasnt under the car, it wouldnt have reached that far. i had it zip tied up where it couldnt get damaged. my only problem is i dont want to spend a bunch of money for a damn o2 sensor, but i would like to get the gas mileage back. its only getting 26 mpgs. we took a 600 mile trip a few weeks ago after i had the exhaust finished. the gas light was on when i filled up. i wrote down how many gallons i put in and we went 70mph the whole way. i divided how many miles we traveled by the gallons of gas we put in and it equaled 26.34. originally the car got like 38 mpgs. now that it breathes better having the intake and full exhaust it should have gotten better gas mileage. its just pissing me off spending this much money for gas in a civic. my friend has a 94 hatch with a b16a turbo and LS transmission and he still gets 34 mpgs. there is some underlying problem here that isnt throwing codes, and i cant figure out what it is. as i said before i smell the cloud of gas come up from behind whenever i stop at a redlight. when i first start ity up everyday it smells like a damn drag car from all the gas its throwing in. even though its pouring in the gas the way it is, it still hasnt thrown the code saying its running too rich. if anyone has any other ideas to try before i spend a bunch of money on a new o2 sensor please let me know

does the motor run smooth? sounds like have way more than an o2 sensor prob. the only thing i could think of is maybe you crossed the 2 black wires, its easy to do, but you said you did it 1 wire at a time so i dont think that is the prob. I need to know more specifics. how the motor runs, how it drives? any bogging or stuttering during revs...stuff like that.

ok i found one problem with my wiring yesterday and fixed it. though after fixing that one wire that came loose the a/c compressor goes apeshit. while idling the a/c compressor clutch repeatedly catches and releases, probably clicks about 30 times per minute. then after driving around for 2 hours with no cel it comes back up. i havent read the codes yet, but when i do i will post them up on here. i hope the code is something different this time. anybody know whats up with that a/c compressor?

lol, im just using butt connectors right now, cuz my soldering iron doesnt get hot anymore. i guess i can try to solder it but it will take a few hours to do. i wish i could just find a dummy to plug into it where i didnt have to worry bout it. can i just get the adapter and change it to an OBD1 ecu?
