Here is the deal, the building of my honda hybrid is like 10 years in the making. Everytime i get close to doing a swap, something bad happens, 2 cars totaled, 3 cars stolen, but i'm not ready to give up. My latest car was a 94 cx hatch in absolutely mint and I mean mint condition. The car was stolen about 3 months ago, but amazingly recovered in way better condition then i left it; cf hood, hids, jdm cluster, gsr clock, 2000 integra black cloth interior w/ center console, side skirts, ls webs w/directional tires, adjustable coilover setup, full greddy exhaust, even a cargo cover. Sweet, now the car is basically ready to drop in my gsr swap! So I start parking the car in a friends warehouse at night, about a mile from my house, so it won't get stolen again, also added a couple of kill switches. Make a long story short, i park the car outside for one night and it gets jacked. It gets recovered 3 days later completely stripped and all of the body panels are all kicked in.
issed:" class="inlineimg" /> Pressed for cash, i purchased another 94 hatch, but it's automatic,it was clean and really cheap. I also pulled everything from my old car to do the conversion to stick. I can't seem to find much on how to do this conversion, Honda-hybrid has an article but i still have many questions, mostly electrical. I have the gsr ecu, and realize wires need to be added for the gsr swap but will i need new harrnesses because its auto, what about ignition and reverse lights etc... has anyone ever done this swap and what other kind of problems will i run into. thanks tonyroll |

ok well so your question isn't really about the transmission conversion at all it's more about what harness you should use for the swap.
im thinking really hard about what wiring is needed for the trans conversion and i cant think of anything. Other than maybe something to do with the dash if you run a tach or something with the gear location display. Your very best bet would be to 94 ex harness, their cheap and you can get em in a junk yard. Then run the required lines for the motor swap, aka vtec (if you get a non ex) and/or knock sensor. (murat chime in i know you did a lot of research on a obd2 motor and obd1 car. |

thanks for the help, i had one more question i know i will also need a new tranny mount, hasport makes this mount but would the mount out of a ls integra work, i got one sitting in my driveway for parts it's also a 94. I also have a new cluster from my cx manual to use for now, no tach but i believe it should eliminate the parking position problem, all i should have to do is make sure the car always thinks it is park so i can start it. However do you think I can overcome this problem by changing the ignition to one from a stick car, because i have one in the teg that i know is interchangable with that from a stick civic
Think I should take pics and put together a how to on this swap i don't think i'll start it till I have all the info on how to do it right, i'm in no big hurry |

You won't have to make the car think it's in park because you'll be using a 5-spd ECU. And as far as the P display on the cluster, just take it apart and put some electrical tape or use some black finger nail polish over it, you can't even tell you've got tape over it once it's reinstalled. I used an auto EX cluster in my last 5-spd coupe.
For the mount, you'll need the HASport mount. The mounting locations in an auto are located on the frame rail in a different location than the 5-spd, and I don't believe any stock mounts will work. When I tried my auto-manual conversion, I used my HASport 5-spd mount, but took it to a shop to have it cut, moved and rewelded. But if you get the Hasport auto-manual mount, it will bolt right in. |

Hybrid is right, you either need a special mount for the pass side or you have to grind the welds off the old one and move the bracket. There are a few things to do about the wiring to keep it thinking it is in park. the reason is that the start wire from ignition goes through the gear selector to let the car only start in park or neutral. A lot of people just tape the switch to park and hide it out of the way. On cybergreen's car I changed it and cut the wire going in and out of it and soldered them together. Even though it has been a while since I did it, I belive that is also where you have to wire in to to get your reverse lights up and going again, but honestly it has been a while since I have done that.
