alright so ive run into a problem that i knew was coming but not until too late. had my uncle order me honda remotes for my locks and shiz for my 97 4 door LX, but I cant figure how to program them with the aftermarket head unit in there. i know from the instructions that you just have to hold this valet button down or whateve rthe fuck on the original unit but that doesnt help me much when i have a sony xplod. i also heard from my cousin (who just bought an NSX recently....SICK) that i cant even get this done because the way the wired those year of hondas is all gay...and that also explains why my interior dome light doesnt work in the automatic mode unless the original unit is in there.
any help would be great if i just fonused anybody let me know and i will try to clarify.

your cousin is right, you need the original headunit cause of how it is. when they put my headunit in they told me this and basically just shoved the stock one back in behind the dash/new headunit.

well, we had the same problem, and ironically it was a sony xplod head unit. my dad and I fixed the dome light via a helms manual and some wiring techniques (he being an electrical engineer) but for the keyless, just gonna have to get the original and like said previously shove it behind the dash somewhere lol.

You need to use a "T" harness to keep the factory deck in the car. The aftermarket radio will be in the dash and working and the factory deck will just chill behind the lighter to keep the dome light and keyless to work, but will be functionless elsewise..

alright thanks guys...appreciate the info. its a pain in the ass to have to open your doors manually, i mean i have auto locks but i gotta stick the key in and turn..hard work. lol. it gets harder after a long night of fun, you know. i wish the SOB who had my car before just left the stock on in there, but i wouldnt have done it so what the hell. thanks.
