I don't have the skunk 2 intake mani on this motor yet, am I hearing the butterflies open at 5700-5800, thats when i really hear the differnce, also do you really think it's worth my time to pull that skunk 2 mani off my other motor and put it on this one, will I see a noticeable difference

I hate the fact that when i bought my car from the kid all i could get was answers like "i think vtec kicks in at 5800 and i think the redline is 7800, i'm not really sure what program it's running"

With answers like that, that Prob should have been a flag and def would have steered me away from buying the car in the first place.
It is tough buying somebody elses modified vehicle, since you don't really know for sure what or how things were done.

don't get me wrong, i was kinda like wtf when he said that shit but for what I got with the car as far as mods and the fact that it runs perfect made it worth it to me, i have a chipped p28 that i do know the specs on from my other gsr motor, so i'll prob swap that one in

with stock cams, 5800 is probably too high, but there's really no way to know what's right for your specific setup without going to a dyno.

If you going fo fork out $200 on a vtec controler you mine as well just get you ECU socked, It's like $50 in parts and you can get freeware rom modifers anywere. Plus you'll get alot more tuning ablity then you would with just a controler, Also you can run a free dataloger like ecu control or better yet freelog. Using the programs really aren't that you. you really jsut need to read alot fo shit and your understanding of tuning a gasoline motor plays the biggest part in your results. I played with it for like 2 weeks and got a nice base map, Then i broke to chris's (xenocron) shop and he put a nice tune on it all the while showing / teaching me what to look out for ect. I really think this would be the best thing for you to do depending on your cash flow.

Either way 5800 is alittle high, Have you checked the cam timing? are you using a stock tach?
